Law & Order Committee
What does the Law & Order Committee Do?
Annually, The American Legion bestows the National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award upon a law enforcement officer who exemplifies exceptional dedication, surpassing the standard job expectations, and exhibiting a consistent record of community service alongside professional excellence. This accolade, with a particular emphasis on acts of heroism, is bestowed during the Legion's national convention.
The National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award honors officers who surpass the ordinary expectations of their duties. A significant secondary objective of this award is to promote the ongoing growth of department and post Law and Order Committees by consistently acknowledging the contributions of law enforcement officers. It is strongly believed that this recognition contributes to enhancing public trust and backing for our law enforcement agencies.
